[Author Interview] Cathryn Fox – Wild Wet and Wicked in Whispering Cove

By

Wet ...in Whispering Cove (Whispering Cove Anthology)Cathryn Fox, author of Wild Wet And Wicked in Whispering Cove, is a multi published author in the romance genre. Before we get to her interview, here is a  description of Wild Wet and Wicked in Whispering Cove: Celebrity Chef Kathleen Wilson has returned to Whispering Cove for her high school reunion. Tired of big city life, she is looking forward to relaxing in the quaint fishing village, but the one thing she’s not looking forward to is facing the boy from her past. The boy she turned her back on ten years ago. The same boy she has never quite gotten over. Firefighter Trent Parker has never given up on reuniting with his Katy, and when he hears she’s back in town, he believes a blatant seduction is just the thing to show her where she belongs. Sparks fly the second they see one another and when he accidentally soaks her with his fire hose it generates heat and need inside them both with only one way to extinguish those fiery flames. Soon they are burning up the sheets but when morning comes and the smoke clears, one question remains. Will Katy leave for another ten years, or will she realize the fire they’ve ignited isn’t about to burn out?  Interview with Cathryn Fox:

Cathryn: I’d just finished visiting the quaint town of Lunenburg, Nova Scotia, a town steeped in tradition yet bustling with a mix of industry, shops and services, when I started thinking about how much I’d like to live there.  Lunenburg is not only known for it’s hard working fishing vessels, it’s a place where many Stephen King movies were shot, including Deloris Claiborne, and where the television series Haven is filmed.

Later that day upon returning home I was chatting on line with the talented and very sweet Nikki Duncan. Before we knew it we were talking about doing an anthology together. We knew we wanted a third author, and both instantly agreed that we’d love to have our very good friend, Mackenzie McKade – another one of the wicked writers from our chat loop – on board.
Much to our delight Mac agreed and we set a time for brainstorming. We all agreed to do a reunion story with overlapping characters. This was fun, but challenging to keep time lines and characters consistent. Next came location and since we wanted a small town I couldn’t think of a better one than a coastal fishing village I’d just finished visiting. (Hey, I might not be able to pack up and move there but it doesn’t mean I can’t live there through my characters!) I shared my Lunenburg pictures and we all agreed to model our fictitious American town after this quaint little fishing village in Nova Scotia. Here are some pictures to give you a feel for our town and characters.

I hope you enjoy Lunenburg, or as we like to call it, Whispering Cove as much as we do!

DBT: Thank you Cathryn for the interview. We also added some pictures from Lunenburg, Nova Scotia from Cathryn’s website.

This is the house where one of Stephen King’s movies was shot.

Beautiful city street below, with bright colored houses.

Here is an aerial view of the ocean. Note the red buildings. Years ago all the buildings were painted red to help the fishermen find their way home.

I love this picture of the wharf and ocean.

I had to add this one with the Lobster! I picture the Seafarer, the lobster house in our stories, having a sign just like this.

Here are a few of the locals. Well…not really. My son on left and daughter on right, just hanging out with one of the fishermen.

This is a store today, but note the top window. A lookout over the ocean to watch the fishermen come home.

St. John’s Anglican Church. The first settlers of the area erected this small church in 1754. It is the oldest church in Lunenburg and the second-oldest non-Roman Catholic church in British North America.

Enjoyed this interview very much. The pictures are beautiful. Bet it was great inspiration for the Whispering Cove series!

Lunenburg is so colorful. Don’t you love it when a place inspires you? Sometimes I wonder why I live in a subdivision instead of an old house in a fishing village. I bet I’d be way more creative and productive.

Great interview – and I loved the pictures!

FWIW – another bit of trivia – the movie Simon Birch, with Oliver Platt and Jim Carrey (in a minor role), was filmed in Lunenburg and there are scenes at the church above.

It’s a beautiful town – no wonder you chose it for your inspiration!

Great pictures of Lunenburg – what a wonderful setting for your series!

I love your titles! I’m a sucker for alliteration. :)

Love learning new things–I’d never heard of this place before. So great to see it. But the best part of this interview is perhaps that headline. :)
